Real life Oceanography

A night on the pier fishing & you never know what you will see or catch!

This is the underside of a fascianting creature we've since learned is called a ROUND RAY. Even though it is really NOT a 'ray' but a 'skate'. Funny name hanh? It took quite a google search to find out exactly what it was.

Pulling it up in the net.

Dad struggling to remove the hook from the mouth. They caught these creatures ALL night. They REALLY like to eat squid, which we were using as bait.

Check out that face & topside.

Oldest doesn't want it to get TOO close! lol
These aren't really the type of catch you want to 'eat'. We spent the evening tossing them back in the ocean. That would be the Pacific! lol
