Yay!

Last month oldest had his high school exit exams. They are a state requirement & you can not graduate unless you pas them. You are allowed to start taking them in 10th grade. He said they were pretty easy but he felt a little off on the English portion.

Got news today that he passed BOTH exams. YAY!

One less requirement to have to think about during high school.

Also he has been involved in an extracurricular academic team event again this year. Odyssey of the Mind This was much more artistic & creative then the events he has been involved in for previous years. There are various categories & divisions for various ages. His team, naturally was in the high school division.

His team had to write a sketch, create a set, props and costumes, all w/o the help or assistance or input of parents, adults or their coach. The judges *loved* their set. I think it *really* set them a part. They made their background set a giant book. So as the other teams used pvc pipe to create one or 2 backgrounds, they were able to have 5 different background sets.

They also had to produce some required elements like an animated character/puppet & a *creature*. They used a pulley system on a giant Zeus head that caused his mouth to open & close as they did the voice.

They earned 1st place in their division & category & qualified to attend the state finals out towards San Francisco!!! When they were announcing the winners...it was so exciting.

I won't be able to attend the finals because it is too close to baby being due, unfortunately. I am very excited for Lil E though. He is such a bright & creative young man. He will be traveling up w/ the families of his team mates. They completely understand & I am grateful for them willing to do that for us.
